Materials for Structure, Warmth and Wear

Wool Blend Melton

Wool Blend Melton

Dense, brushed wool-blend melton gives varsity bodies a substantial, premium hand and reliable warmth. Commonly specified around 450–700 gsm, it holds a clean silhouette while supporting chenille, patches and embroidered artwork.

Faux Leather

Faux Leather

Smooth faux leather creates a polished sleeve or full-bomber finish with more consistent color control than natural hides. Its coated surface offers wind resistance and a structured hand; backing and thickness are selected for the required drape.

Genuine Leather

Genuine Leather

Genuine leather delivers natural grain, durability and a progressively softer broken-in feel for elevated varsity sleeves and premium bomber jackets. Hide selection affects thickness, grain variation and weight, so approved swatches are essential before bulk production.

Nylon Performance Shell

Nylon Performance Shell

Lightweight nylon shell fabric suits flight bombers, windbreakers and technical streetwear layers. Its crisp hand and tightly woven construction help block wind, while optional coatings or finishes can add water resistance without excessive bulk.

Polyester Fleece

Polyester Fleece

Polyester fleece provides soft insulation for lining, lightweight outerwear and casual bomber styles. Typically available in multiple pile weights, it traps warmth efficiently and can be paired with a shell fabric when a plush interior is needed.

Rib Knit Trim

Rib Knit Trim

Elastic rib knit is used at collars, cuffs and hems to seal in warmth and define the classic varsity or bomber profile. Rib recovery, yarn blend and stripe construction are matched to the jacket body for durable shape retention.

Production Processes

Decoration Options for Varsity & Bomber Jackets Styles and Specifications

Flat Embroidery

Flat Embroidery

Stitched logos, lettering and small artwork add a durable, premium surface finish. VeeWen reviews stitch density, backing and placement so embroidery holds its shape without adding unnecessary stiffness to jacket panels.

Chenille Application

Chenille Application

Chenille creates raised, tactile varsity letters and heritage-style graphics with a soft looped texture. It works especially well on wool-blend bodies and sleeves when patch scale, edge binding and placement are approved during sampling.

Applique Construction

Applique Construction

Layered fabric applique builds bold numbers, lettering or crest details with dimension and contrast. Material selection, stitch method and edge treatment are matched to the jacket fabric for a secure finish that keeps its intended shape.

Screen Print Transfers

Screen Print Transfers

Screen printing and heat transfers suit artwork requiring sharp color, larger coverage or flexible placement. Ink, transfer type and curing approach are selected around the jacket fabric to balance color impact, stretch and wash durability.

Garment Wash Effects

Garment Wash Effects

Pigment dye, enzyme wash, acid wash and vintage fading create lived-in color and character. Because wash treatments affect shrinkage, shade variation and hand feel, VeeWen validates the approved effect before bulk manufacturing.

Branded Zipper Systems

Branded Zipper Systems

Specify nylon coil, metal or molded zippers for bomber fronts and pockets, paired with selected tape colors and pull styles. Zipper gauge and construction affect appearance, durability and the jacket’s production lead time.

Rib Knit Sets

Develop matching collar, cuff and hem ribbing in solid, striped or custom color combinations. Yarn composition, rib recovery and stripe alignment help maintain a clean varsity or bomber silhouette through repeated wear.

Woven Brand Labels

Custom Hangtags

Logo Zipper Pulls

Pattern and Fit Development

VeeWen translates varsity and bomber jacket references into graded production patterns, defining body length, shoulder shape, sleeve pitch, rib proportions and ease. Fit samples turn visual direction into repeatable varsity & bomber jackets styles and specifications before bulk commitment.

  • Fit blocks for cropped, regular, oversized and relaxed silhouettes
  • Graded measurements checked across the approved size range
  • Sleeve, cuff and hem rib balance reviewed during sampling
Pattern and Fit Development

Material and Trim Matching

Jacket structure depends on how shell fabric, lining, insulation and trims work together. We recommend compatible wool blends, nylon, polyester, denim, fleece or twill options, then align rib quality, zipper gauge, snaps and labels with the intended hand feel and target price.

  • Shell, lining and filling selected for weight and end use
  • Rib recovery matched to collar, cuffs and waistband
  • Zippers, snaps, patches and labels specified for the program

Decoration Testing Before Bulk

Embroidery, chenille, applique, screen print and patches can change drape, lead time and finished cost. VeeWen tests placement, stitch density, backing and decoration compatibility on samples, helping buyers approve varsity & bomber jackets styles and specifications with fewer production surprises.

  • Chenille and embroidery density assessed for fabric stability
  • Print, patch and applique placement confirmed on sample panels
  • Wash and color effects reviewed before pre-production approval

Production FAQ

Varsity & Bomber Jackets Styles and Specifications FAQ

Clear answers for brands planning custom jacket development, sampling and bulk production with VeeWen.

What is the MOQ for custom varsity & bomber jackets styles and specifications?
VeeWen’s standard MOQ is 100 pieces per style. This works for focused brand drops, team programs and private-label launches. Color and size breakdowns should be confirmed early, because fabric allocation, custom rib knitting, patches and branded trims can affect the practical minimum for a specific varsity or bomber jacket program.
Can I order a sample before producing varsity & bomber jackets styles and specifications in bulk?
Yes. We recommend approving a development sample before bulk production. You can start with a tech pack, sketch, reference garment or inspiration images. The sample stage confirms fit block, measurements, fabric hand feel, decoration placement, rib recovery, lining, trims and construction details before final bulk specifications are released.
What specifications do I need to provide for varsity & bomber jackets styles and specifications?
A complete tech pack is helpful but not required. Send your artwork, reference images, target fit, size range, color direction, preferred fabric or weight, lining, closure type and decoration details. VeeWen can help convert an early concept into practical measurements, material recommendations, trim specifications and an approval-ready sample.
How long does custom jacket sampling and bulk production take?
Timing depends on fabric availability, custom trims, wash processes, decoration complexity and revision rounds. Sampling includes material selection, pattern work and fit review; bulk starts after the approved sample and pre-production details are confirmed. VeeWen provides a program-specific schedule once the specification and order requirements are clear.
Which fabrics, linings and trims can you source for varsity and bomber jackets?
Options can include wool blends, melton, denim, twill, nylon, polyester performance fabrics, fleece, cotton blends and suitable lining materials. We can coordinate rib cuffs and collars, snaps, zippers, zipper pulls, patches, applique, embroidery, labels, hangtags and packaging. Material choices are matched to structure, warmth, target price and end use.
Can VeeWen handle embroidery, chenille patches and private-label details?
Yes. VeeWen supports flat and 3D embroidery, chenille, applique, woven patches, screen printing, heat transfers and selected specialty finishes. We also coordinate neck labels, care labels, size labels, hangtags, buttons, drawcords, silicone patches and polybags. Decoration density and patch size are reviewed to protect drape, durability and production timing.
How do payment, quality control and international shipping work?
Payment terms and shipment arrangements are confirmed in the quotation for your order. VeeWen manages documented checkpoints from sample approval through pre-production confirmation, in-line inspection, final quality checks and packing. We can coordinate shipment preparation for international B2B buyers and provide clear communication on required documents and delivery details.
How do you protect our jacket designs and artwork?
Your designs, specifications and artwork are handled as project information for the development and production workflow. Share only the files needed to quote and sample the program, and identify any confidential elements at the start. Approved samples, measurement records and decoration confirmations help keep your production requirements documented and consistent.
Buyer’s Guide

Complete Buyer’s Guide to varsity & bomber jackets styles and specifications

Use a practical decision framework to compare jacket styles, materials, construction, customization, pricing, and China supplier capabilities—while avoiding specification gaps, sampling errors, and costly production mistakes.

1. Varsity & bomber jackets styles and specifications explained

1865 varsity jackets trace to collegiate letterman wear: they typically use a wool or melton body, contrast sleeves, striped rib, snap front, and bold chest or back decoration. They suit team, campus, heritage, and streetwear programs.

1950s bomber jackets descend from flight jackets and use a cleaner waist-length silhouette, rib collar, cuffs, and hem, plus a zipper front. Nylon, polyester, twill, leather, or padded constructions determine weather use and price.

100 pieces per style is VeeWen’s standard MOQ. For an OEM, ODM, or private-label quotation, provide a tech pack or reference, fabric and color, fit block and size range, trim list, artwork method, packaging, target market, and required compliance such as OEKO-TEX or CPSIA.

2. Evolution of varsity and bomber jackets

1865 collegiate letter sweaters established the visual language later carried by varsity jackets: chenille letters, striped rib trims, wool bodies and leather sleeves. These signals still suit premium campus-inspired collections, alumni merchandise and teams where texture and tradition justify a higher target retail price.

1950s MA-1 flight jackets shifted bomber design toward nylon shells, insulated padding, utility pockets and sleeve patches. Use that lineage for technical streetwear, staff uniforms or corporate merchandise; a lighter unpadded shell reads more fashion-led, while filled construction and detailed patches create a stronger military or teamwear signal.

100-piece MOQs let buyers test either heritage direction without blending them carelessly. Approve fabric, rib recovery, patch placement and fit together, because each choice changes perceived value.

3. Types of varsity & bomber jackets styles and specifications

Seven jacket families create different buying outcomes before a buyer approves a sample. At VeeWen’s 100-piece MOQ, specify season, fit block, shell, and decoration together.

Varsity Programs

Red and cream varsity-inspired snap jacket

Traditional varsity uses a wool-blend or melton body, contrast sleeves, striped ribs, and a relaxed collegiate fit for premium fashion or team programs; chenille and appliqué suit it.

Lightweight varsity uses nylon or twill for spring retail and promotional layers; screen print and flat embroidery keep the garment flexible.

Bomber Directions

Satin souvenir styles use a smooth shell and relaxed fit for fashion-led streetwear in mild weather; dense embroidery is their defining decoration.

MA-1 and flight bombers use nylon shells, rib collars, and fuller sleeves for cool-season streetwear; patches, embroidery, and woven labels work well.

Coach And Hybrid Fits

Close-up of distressed ribbed cuffs on a blue and tan baseball jacket.

Coach-inspired bombers use snap fronts and lightweight nylon for team, promotional, and transitional retail programs; large back prints are practical.

Hybrid silhouettes combine varsity ribs, bomber shells, or workwear panels for fashion retail; choose decoration after panel seams and intended drape are approved.

4. Varsity & bomber jackets materials and specifications

At 100 pieces per style, material selection should be locked before sampling because shell weight, insulation and trims drive fit, care and landed cost.

MaterialBest UseTrade-Off
Melton woolPremium varsityWarm; higher cost
NylonLight bomberDurable; less breathable
Satin liningElevated finishSnags more easily

Shell And Sleeves

Washed canvas zip jacket with star rivets on the shoulder

550–750 gsm melton or wool blends give premium structure and warmth; cotton twill suits milder climates and easier care.

Nylon or polyester shells create lighter bombers, while genuine leather costs more than durable faux leather and needs specialist care.

Lining, Fill And Ribs

A black leather-look bomber jacket with a ribbed collar and zipper.

60–120 gsm satin or polyester lining improves slip; recycled polyester is practical for value-focused programs.

80–160 gsm synthetic insulation adds warmth without bulky seams. 2×2 acrylic-wool rib needs good recovery, while metal snaps and zippers raise trim cost.

5. Customization and decoration options

At a 100-piece MOQ, lock artwork, panel placement, and hardware before sampling. Pair one hero decoration with restrained trims to protect fit, lead time, and revision control.

Choose A Hero Mark

Brown quilted multi-pocket cargo bomber jacket

One chest chenille patch or back embroidery gives varsity jackets a clear focal point. Two oversized techniques on one panel can stiffen the shell.

Match Trim To Function

Black baseball jacket with a red and white striped collar

Two-color striped ribs frame cuffs and collars without adding artwork approvals. Metal snaps and custom zipper pulls should use approved finish swatches.

Release Production Files

Close-up of a brown and white paneled bomber jacket with '2013' embroidery

100% vector artwork preserves clean screen-print and applique edges. Pantone references, stitch files, and placement measurements reduce sample revisions.

6. Construction quality for varsity & bomber jackets styles

100% fabric inspection should check face defects, shade consistency, grain and usable width before cutting. For varsity & bomber jackets styles and specifications, approve swatches and defect-marking standards.

Seams And Sleeves

10–12 mm seam allowances give operators room for durable closed seams. Review armhole balance, sleeve pitch, stress-bar tacks and clean overlock coverage at joins.

Ribs And Hardware

Olive green and cream patchwork fleece bomber jacket with striped cuffs

85–95% rib recovery after stretch helps collars, cuffs and waistbands retain shape. Test zippers and snaps through repeated cycles; verify tape alignment, pull clearance and secure pocket bartacks.

Lining And Final Checks

±1 cm finished-measurement tolerance is a practical tech-pack control point for chest, length and sleeves. Inspect lining for hem stability, even insulation distribution, trimmed edges, loose threads and matching labels.

7. How to choose a jacket manufacturer

A 100-piece MOQ can suit a focused launch, but it does not prove jacket competence. Choose a China supplier by checking its evidence before its quotation.

Verify Jacket Experience

Request 3 recent varsity or bomber samples, graded measurement sheets, and fit photos. Ask how the factory controls rib recovery, sleeve pitch, lining, and zipper installation.

Test Development Control

Approve a pre-production sample before bulk cutting. Confirm fabric composition, GSM, Pantone, decoration placement, shrinkage tolerance, and approved trim references in writing.

Check Factory Readiness

Request in-line and final inspection records, relevant BSCI, WRAP, OEKO-TEX, or GOTS evidence where required, and export documentation examples. Confirm capacity, sample lead time, communication owner, packing specification, and shipment support.

8. Common buyer mistakes to avoid

At a 100-piece MOQ, one missing specification can affect every jacket in the run. Prevent disputes by approving documented materials, measurements, artwork, and pricing assumptions before bulk production.

Specify The Product

10 core tech-pack fields should include fabric, GSM, lining, rib, zipper, colors, measurements, artwork, labels, and packing. Photo-only material selection can deliver the wrong hand feel; review swatches and construction details.

Control Trims And Artwork

1 low-grade zipper or weak rib can undermine an otherwise sound jacket. Name trim standards and submit vector artwork with Pantone references, placement dimensions, and stitch or print notes.

Approve Data, Not Assumptions

2 checkpoints—sample measurements and graded size charts—catch fit drift before bulk. Compare quotations only against identical specifications, and allow development, approvals, and production time rather than assuming an immediate launch.

9. Steps to launch your jacket collection

A 100-piece MOQ lets a focused varsity or bomber launch begin with one proven fit block and a tightly defined customer. Set decision gates before development so the approved sample—not an inspiration image—releases bulk production.

Position The Range

Week 1: define price tier, sales channel, target wearer, color count, and 3–5 reference jackets. Deliver a line brief; reject references that conflict on fit, fabric, or decoration.

Lock Production Specifications

Week 2: convert the selected direction into a tech pack with measurements, Pantone colors, materials, trims, artwork, labels, and packing. Confirm fabric, rib, zipper, and decoration strike-offs before sampling.

Approve And Replenish

Weeks 3–6: review the sample for fit, sleeve pitch, rib recovery, and workmanship; approve graded measurements and a pre-production sample. Release bulk only after inspection criteria and shipping marks are signed; reserve repeat fabric or trims for replenishment.

10. Varsity & bomber jackets pricing and cost

100 pieces is VeeWen’s standard starting MOQ; ranges below are indicative ex-factory estimates after material and size-run approval. Sampling is quoted separately.

15–35 production days is typical after pre-production approval; freight, insurance, duties, taxes, and destination handling are not included. Wool-blend bodies, leather sleeves, insulation, embroidery, custom hardware, and branded packaging move the final quote.
